THE ORGANIZATION The Citizen Advocacy Center (“CAC”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to building democracy in the 21st Century by strengthening the public’s capacities, resources, and institutions for self-governance. Now entering its 30th year and based in the Chicagoland area, the CAC, through its Community Lawyers, applies legal advocacy, community organizing, public policy analysis, media outreach, civic education, and litigation to foster the growth of citizen-initiated community engagement with government.
The CAC’s office is currently located in Elmhurst, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago.
Compensation: $30,000- $32,000 with growth potential in accordance with growth of the organization and job performance
Working knowledge of Salesforce, Constant Contact, Adobe PDF Editor, Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, Excel and Microsoft Cloud tools is a plus.

OFFICE MANAGEMENT DUTIES INCLUDE:
Open and close the CAC’s office on a daily basis during regular business hours.
Act as the first point of contact for community members engaging with the CAC.
Maintain a professional and welcoming environment for in-person, virtual, and off-site engagement of the public, public officials, volunteers, donors, and foundation representatives.
Answer phones and general email communications, make appropriate referrals, respond to routine requests for information, and begin the intake process.
Update and maintain all general organizational records and databases (paper, computer and cloud). Records include, but are not limited to, contact management databases, corporate records, finance records, existing and new work product, and organization calendar.
Ensure that the office is running in optimal fashion, including arranging for maintenance repairs and technical service, maintaining necessary supplies and acting as a liaison to organization’s contractors.
Expedite the delivery of community lawyering services through activities such as compiling and collating information and organizing community events.
Assist CAC staff to optimally work with a diverse array of volunteers, including the recruitment of student interns and adult volunteers and coordinating volunteer activity.
FUNDRAISING ASSISTANCE DUTIES AT THE DIRECTION OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: Assist the Executive Director in broad fundraising activities, which include but are not limited to, planning and coordinating community and special events, compiling grant documents; and coordinating individual donor outreach.
Update and maintain donor and contact databases and integrate content into work product databases for optimal use.
Deliver varied correspondence to donors and the public that includes solicitations and donor acknowledgments through individual communications, bulk mail, email, and social media.
Coordinate the layout of the newsletter and other print communications, coordinate production and facilitate bulk mailing (either with volunteers in-house or outsources).
Assist the Executive Director in facilitating communications with the Board of Directors, planning quarterly board meetings, compiling board packets and sending them to board members.
SOCIAL MEDIA DUTIES:
Maintain website to keep content current.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, post regularly to CAC’s social media.
